Windows Upgrade Error: Configuration sets are only supported when Windows installation is started from Windows PE.

I recently came across the following error when updating a machine from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 – Error: “Configuration sets are only supported when Windows installation is started from Windows PE.”

Solution:

In this case, the error was caused by the driver disk I had in the DVD drive. Removing the DVD fixed the issue.

Would be good if they were all this simple eh?!

Thanks to Ishanyadav24 for sharing this solution on his forum post at: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-error-error-configuration-sets-are-only/8655cef0-8234-47e6-83e8-570879b4a465

Travellers (Netflix): Worth A Watch

TLDR: Travellers is a Netflix Original Sci-Fi about Time Travellers who come back to the 21st century to prevent the downfall of mankind.

Starting at the end: I’ve never seen such a perfect finale to a show in my whole life.

Don’t worry, there aren’t any major spoilers in this article, but I can say without a doubt; the final scene of the final episode is perfect. Not only does it complete the story, it leaves Travellers open for another series.

Back to the start.

The series follows a team of time travellers who come back to the 21st century to change a series of events that herald the downfall of mankind.

Unlike many tales of time travel, the body can’t be sent back, only the consciousness can travel through time. So the travellers have to take over the bodies, and lives, of people in the 21st century.

Receiving instructions from the “Director”, teams of travellers carry out a series of missions, all whilst battling with the morality of their orders, the butterfly effect and continuing the day to day lives and relationships of their hosts.

The back stories of the characters are well written, and it’s hard not to care about what happens to them. Adding to this we discover that the director isn’t infallible and that quickly becomes evident when the flaws of the chosen hosts start to show through and affect the team’s dynamics.

Go Watch Travellers.

All in all, this is one of my favourite series and I can’t recommend it enough. All three series available to binge watch on Netflix, so head straight there to get started.

Sync Google Drive To Linux.

I’m currently working on making sure all my data is backed up and wanted to sync it across all my devices, so I’ve been exploring how to sync Google Drive to Linux.

Looking at Google Drive’s documentation, it’s clear they only support Windows and Mac. No surprise there. But with Linux, you can guarantee there’s a way to do it.

Naturally my first step was to check the software repository for a solution and I thought “great, I can just use Open Drive!”.

But, no.

The minute you try to sync your account, Google tells you the “Browser is insecure” and it wouldn’t let you advance any further at all.

So I naturally turned to Google and found a way to sync Google Drive to Linux, which I will share with you here.

My current set up is running Linux Mint 19.1, so I will be guiding you based on that, note variations may apply for different distros.

Install GNOME Online Accounts

Open terminal

Type and enter: sudo apt install gnome-online-accounts

Open & Configure Online Accounts

Click the start icon

type “Online Accounts”

Click the Online Accounts Icon.

Under the “Add and account” header, select Google

Enter your login details and grant GNOME access to the account

Tell it to sync files (and any other service you want to sync)

Then you should see your google drive show up as a network location.

Job done, your Google Drive account is now synced up to your Linux Machine.

The Top 3 Christmas Movies 2019

It’s that time of year again. Time to dust off the old Netflix account and get into the festive spirit. So in no particular order, here are my Top 3 Christmas Movies for 2019.

Arthur Christmas

“There’s a child… WITHOUT A PRESENT!”

And in true Christmas fashion, a goofy accident prone lad is left to save the day. Arthur Christmas is set in a world where the role of Santa is passed down from father to son and features three generations of the magical family.

With humour and a feel-good factor through out, it’s a great one to watch with the family, or even on your own, if your so pre-disposed.

“Insubordination! I’ll have you harpooned, Elf.”

Grand Santa – Arthur Christmas

Christmas Chronicles

The Elves are more like gremlins and they attack bad people…

Santa ironing his suit, looks similar to the Santa from the Christmas Chronicles movie. Top 3 Christmas Movies
Not from the movie. But it reminds me of the depiction in Christmas Chronicles!

Ok, they only do it in one scene, but it’s the highlight of an already incredible movie. Christmas Chronicles is your traditional tale of fighting siblings with a sad back story, and by embarking on an adventure to save Christmas they make amends and all the usual gubbins. Its an untraditional portrayal of Santa though that makes it worth the watch.

This one’s a Netflix Original though, so you’ll need a subscription to catch this one.

The Man Who Invented Christmas

The Man Who Invented Christmas takes a look at the tale behind the making of A Christmas Carol. It follows the world famous author, Charles Dickens as he sets himself the near impossible task of writing and publishing a novel ready to stock the shelves for Christmas.

The insights into the life of Dickens at that time are fascinating, and the movie also elaborates on his younger years, revealing a childhood that many never knew of, despite all his fame.

Overall though the tale has humorous moments as Dicken’s argues with his fictional characters. A great watch.

So there you have it, my top 3 Christmas Movies for 2019!
